Strange!

OK so this cool house? It is HO train scale, do I have that right? 1/87th? according to Wikipedia. I better check. But way cool! Who designed this and when?
It is on US ebay #300531499368 now. I would love to know more, C

  4. OK, will get it out and measure it.
Faller is (was?) a German company that made model railways.

Re the Bodo Hennig house on ebay - CallSmall recognised it from diepuppenstubensammlerin's article on Bodo Hennig houses - which maybe you haven't read yet? She says it took her a while to realise there were two models, as they were put together in various strange ways in ebay auctions!

  5. It's 8 inches long, so perhaps a bit big for an architect's office. I don't think architects always used 1/12th scale, but this is still too big, I think. Lovely, though!

  6. How funny - about a year ago I was planning on building a 1:12 version of this house! I did quite a lot of research and was talking to a German guy who has been researching the background of this model. The original house which was the inspiration is in Ambri here in Switzerland. The Faller brothers, who are a very well known in Europe for their H0 model houses, built a similar house next to their factory. The model is called "Villa im Tessin" There are lots of pictures here: http://www.jeanmarcmonhart.ch/jmm_pictures/html/faller_b-271.html
It's a shame I never got round to building it - my dad even rendered the whole house in 3D!

  7. I've just added the photos of the original buildings to my Flickr. These are not my photos so please don't use them. You can see them here: http://flickr.com/gp/anninja/6U01eq

  11. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find photos of the inside.
By the way there is a sinister twist to the story of these houses - both men who commissioned the two buildings died within months of their completion... one in a car accident the other one of cancer... very strange...!

  12. Wow! You guys sure filled in the history of the house. I love learning things like this. CM, are you going to go for the HO model? It is sooo cool. I'm sure you will find a place for it.

  13. I don't know Shale. What if I buy it and bad things befall my dolls, referring to the curse Annina speaks of... C

  14. You can't be too careful with curses. Maybe you should just look at the picture for now.
