This 1/6 scale furniture is hot pink plastic. I sprayed it black. I keep seeing this wild Barbie furniture on ebay for a dollar or two.
Vixievaporous from Flickr turned me on to the phantom chairs. They are a little smaller than 1/6 and are perfect for 1/12 scale. They are used as table decorations or place card holders. Thanks Vixie!
The lamp is Jonathan Alder sprayed black. I have found that using fabric from clothing is best as the patterns are smaller, so the striped cuhions are from an old jersey blouse.
Before, hot pink. After, black. Funny the 2 chairs are the same size
but the pink one looks bigger. Must be an optical illusion.
Cheers CM
Thanks for the heads-up on those little phantom chairs! Love the black and white too.
ReplyDeleteI quite like the idea of using 'used' fabric for minis sometimes because it saves you from that pristine and new look which isn't always appropriate. Since I seldom have anything suitable just 'hanging around' tho I'm usually reaching for the bleach bottle and tea bag ;)
Ha ha Nice to hear from you Norma! I was irked by not finding a striking black and white material and my eyes dropped to this old shirt... and it was jerey which molded to the furniture easily. (Plus it's been a little tight lately...) C
ReplyDeleteomg I thought you bought the chairs from eBay! They were like 60$ or something and I wanted them so bad but couldn't do it because that's crazy and I don't do 1:6 so now I'm going to go look at that wedding site 'cause these would just look great on a shelf in my house. I love chairs.
ReplyDeleteThey have birdcages too! Your scene is lovely and bad for my credit card.
ReplyDeleteHa ha... first one's free, not! C
ReplyDeleteI have both, and the expensive ones with arms fro ebay are a bit bigger than 1/6, and these are a little smaller and can probably handle 1/12 and 1/16. C
ReplyDeleteTHese look so stylish - great job!

ReplyDeleteHi Hunky Dory, went to your site and joined your blog. Love humor, love your purple, love your scene. Welcome! C
ReplyDeleteThe transformation is incredible! I love the end result. I would have passed over the hot pink without realizing what they could become. Brilliant once again!
